Band Kids Delight (Horn & Marimba)

This piece was commissioned for Jean by our mutual friend Janet Good. In conversations with several friends we share, I learned that, above all else, both Jean and her husband were into the world of band music. With that in mind, I composed this piece by tying in several motives from various classics of the wind band repertoire (I would list those here, but it’s more fun to leave the player and the listener to find them and identify them!)

It truly was a pleasure to compose this piece for such a fine musician, educator, and friend - Happy Birthday, Jean!
