Connected
Connected is a show about how we are all tied to one another. Throughout the production, strands run out from the props, tying one prop to the next and one performer to another, until the whole field is bound together. We all have those connections.
The music opens in that spirit, with the bright, interlocking lines of Pat Metheny's First Circle, where every part leans on the ones around it. Then, in the ballad, Clyde Otis's This Bitter Earth, the connections break apart. We all reach those moments when the relationships we count on strain and give way.
That isn't where it ends. As we grow through life, the work is to move back through those strains and rebuild what came apart. The show closes by reaching toward Imogen Heap's Aha and original writing to rebuild the connections that make us whole and make us human.
Permissions to Arrange are required for:
- First Circle (Pat Metheny)
- This Bitter Earth (Clyde Otis)

This show is rated Medium-Advanced, which lines up with a concert grade of roughly 2.5 to 4.5. That's an approximation. A featured soloist or small ensemble moment can sit toward the top of that range, while full ensemble sections built around visual impact stay lighter on the musical demand.
The rating leans almost entirely on rhythmic and technical difficulty. Keys and meters are chosen to stay band-friendly and to line up with the phrasing the drill needs, and instrument ranges sit inside the grade window rather than pushing its edges.
The rest of the score is Ryan's original writing.
