From Frost to Flame
From Frost to Flame is a journey across the full spectrum of temperature and color, from the deep blue stillness of ice to the roaring red of fire. It's a show about transformation as pure elemental force: the frozen world thawing, the cold giving way to heat, the blues melting into reds until what began locked in frost ends fully ablaze. There's no myth or story wrapped around it, just the raw, satisfying arc of one extreme becoming its opposite, and all the drama and color that lives in the space between.
The production is built as a slow, gorgeous burn. It opens crystalline and cold, spare and glassy, and heats by degrees across the show until it erupts into full, radiant flame. That built-in arc gives an ensemble a rewarding build to play, and a visual palette that shifts from icy blues to blazing reds right in front of the crowd. A State Champion and Class Champion production, it's a proven, high-impact show that fits a band of any size and delivers a satisfying journey from the first cold note to the last burst of fire.
The music:
- Re(new)al (Viet Cuong)
- Inspired by Winter and Summer, from The Four Seasons (Antonio Vivaldi)
This show is rated Medium-Advanced, which lines up with a concert grade of roughly 2.5 to 4.5. That's an approximation. A featured soloist or small ensemble moment can sit toward the top of that range, while full ensemble sections built around visual impact stay lighter on the musical demand.
The rating leans almost entirely on rhythmic and technical difficulty. Keys and meters are chosen to stay band-friendly and to line up with the phrasing the drill needs, and instrument ranges sit inside the grade window rather than pushing its edges.
Permissions to arrange are required for the Viet Cuong selection. The Vivaldi material is in the public domain.
