The production has real intellectual and emotional weight, and it gives an ensemble a genuine character to inhabit, from the soaring wonder of the dream to the dark, churning intensity of a genius on the edge. It's a substantive, dramatically rich show for a program that wants a concept with depth and a soundtrack with serious range.
