Egypt drops the audience into the ancient kingdom of gods and pharaohs, from the noise and color of a crowded marketplace to the towering stillness of the temples. It's a high-energy tour through a world most crowds only know from movies, built on driving percussion and the distinctive scales and colors of the region's musical language. It has pageantry to it, and a sense of a civilization that built things meant to outlast everyone who saw them.

Because it leans on less familiar musical languages, it's also a legitimate teaching show, a chance to put modes and colors in front of your students they won't meet in standard repertoire. It fits a band of any size and gives a crowd a striking, atmospheric ride.

The rating leans almost entirely on rhythmic and technical difficulty. Keys and meters are chosen to stay band-friendly and to line up with the phrasing the drill needs, and instrument ranges sit inside the grade window rather than pushing its edges.
