Multiplicity for Solo and Max/MSP

This piece of music was commissioned by and is dedicated to Ryan Satmary, a former student of mine. The piece was written to be premiered on Ryan’s senior recital at Towson University.

As I began to sketch out ideas for this piece, the idea came to mind to incorporate electronics into the work - to use the power of the computer to simulate an environment in which Ryan would sound as if he’s playing with ensemble, whereas it’s really just the computer creating the effect. Once the piece started to come together, it really became an exciting challenge for me to learn the software to use it deeper than I had in the past.
